Safety and Environment

Callon is committed to providing a healthy and safe work environment for our employees and contractors. We believe that strong safety performance reflect a strong operating performance.

Callon’s commitment to safety has produced positive effects over the years evidenced by the reduced frequency of accidents and injuries to our employees. Callon’s efforts for a safer workplace extends to all workers on a Callon location.

Callon is a past recipient of the US Minerals Management Service’s Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) in the New Orleans District.

Our environmental performance is equally important. Callon is committed to being a good steward of our environment by conducting our operations in compliance with regulations and in some cases going beyond regulatory requirements in order to further mitigate risk.

In the case of our Haynesville Shale development program in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, we are voluntarily limiting our impact to the sensitive forested area by directionally drilling 7 development wells from only two locations, thereby reducing our overall footprint in the area.

The elimination or reduction of wetlands disturbance was a key factor in the final selection of the drill site locations as well as protection of, and elimination of, all disturbances on federal and state owned public lands.

The drill pads are designed to naturally drain uncontaminated rainwater through a series of hay and silt fencing off location. All rainwater and fluids that may have been exposed to contaminates are collected through a series of underground perforated collection piping to buried sump systems to be trucked off location to commercial disposal facilities.

Our gas sales pipeline right-of-way route was chosen to optimally reduce the taking of mature trees and boring equipment was utilized to eliminate topside disturbances to protect identified natural Calcareous Prairie areas. All vegetation was chipped and reduced to mulch, thereby eliminating pollution that would be created by piling and burning.

Our activities have not resulted in any harm or loss to Cultural Resources, Threatened or Endangered Animal species or significant plants or vegetation.
